THE HUCKABEE EXPERIENCE

Just how does one become a Mike Huckabee supporter? Well it goes something like this. You are sitting in your living room folding clothes or reading a book with 1/2 an ear on the tv. Suddenly you hear a man speak that catches your attention. "Who is that guy?", you might think. Then he says something so profound that you literally stop what you are doing and move to the edge of your seat. Sound familiar? Then you involuntarily cock your head to the side so as not to miss one word of what this man is saying. When he is done talking you say out loud to yourself and anyone else who is in the room, "That man needs to be President".

With that one moment in time you are hooked on making sure this incredible man of great wisdom, humility and integrity becomes President of the United States of America. It doesn't matter that you have never donated to a presidential campaign before. It doesn't matter that you are really kind of shy and would never have voiced your opinion of a political candidate to your friends, or heaven forbid - a total stranger. It doesn't matter that you have never written a letter to someone whom you hope will endorse someone for office. But you find yourself doing all these things and much, much more.

Never, in the last century have we had an opportunity to elect someone to the highest office in our land who would lift us up to be something better than we are. We want to be like Mike - literally. We stop and think about how we treat people and how we talk about people. What would Mike do in this situation? I was raised on TV that encouraged the best behavior and the characters were in reality "to good to be true". Well folks, we have found a Presidential Candidate in Mike Huckabee who is "to good" to be deserving of the decline this Nation has experienced. When President Clinton was President, I made the comment, "God has given us what we deserve". It is my prayer now that God will not give us what we deserve, but instead show His great mercy on us by allowing us to have Mike Huckabee who will lead us back to a Country we can be proud to be a part of.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CHOICES

Mike Huckabee with his non-polarizing conservative style is set to take on the challenge of another Clinton democratic nominee if that becomes the choice of the leftist party. In a recent Rasmussen poll, Huckabee was within 3 pts. in a head-to-head contest with Sen Hillary Clinton.

Update: Since this post, Mike Huckabee has surpassed Hillary Clinton in a head to head match up.
"Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who recently rose to the top tier of GOP candidates in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll, has pulled to within three points of the Democratic frontrunner in a general election match-up. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows Senator Hillary Clinton earning 46% of the vote while Huckabee attracts 43%. "

While other Republican candidates scramble for Christian conservative endorsements to shore up their own lack of conservatism, Mike Huckabee continues to stir up the passion of America's right with his no-nonsense, clear, concise policies sprinkled with good humor.

So who will play the part of Capt. James West in the movie "Wild,Wild,West to take on the Clinton machine? Mike Huckabee has already accomplished it successfully four times! For me, it just makes sense to let him do it again. I'm behind him 100% for the salvation of our country.

From the movie:

Loveless Hentchman: [Doing Karate moves] "I learned that from a China man "
Capt. James West: [Kicks up a shovel and hits him in the face] "I just made that up "

Another Must Read from the Washington Post

"Mike Huckabee is the one major Republican candidate who is not equivocal on either abortion or same sex marriage. He opposes both and supports amendments to back up those views. "

How Huckabee Could Rock The 2008 Vote

Washington Post: How Huckabee Could Rock The 2008 Vote

By Charles Mahtesian, Washington Post

November 03, 2007

"Southern political personalities, like sweet corn, travel badly," A.J. Liebling once famously noted. "They lose flavor with every hundred yards away from the patch." But in the case of Mike Huckabee, the opposite might be true.
The farther this Baptist preacher-turned-presidential candidate gets from Little Rock, the more appealing he becomes. From the Manhattan studios of Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show" to the Values Voter Summit in Washington, from the straw poll in Ames, Iowa, to a jam session with a high school jazz band in Concord, N.H., Huckabee has blended his faith and social conservatism into an appealing package -- one that's true to his evangelical roots yet somehow unthreatening to more secular audiences.

Have You Thanked a G.I. Lately?

Here is a thought.

How many of us have friends and family currently serving in the military? How many of us have adequately thanked them for that service?

My idea:
Send a thank you card to those people and include a note stating that we have contributed X amount to the Mike Huckabee campaign in their honor. You can explain why you think Mike is the best candidate for this country. It doesn't matter if they already support Mike or not . ( but it doesn't hurt to get his name out there).

Later,
I have cards to mail.

A Heartfelt Letter to America From the Co-Author of September Dawn

Schutter, Carole
10/23/2007 11:33 PM
[I] am the co-screenwriter and author of the movie and book "September Dawn." At the time the director/producer/co-writer and I conceived the project, we never heard of Mitt Romney, although we have been accused of trying to sabotage his campaign. In doing the research for the movie and book, I read thousands of pages of historical documents, interviewed ex-Mormons, most famously one of Brigham Young's great great grandchildren, and have the backing of credible historians and descendents of the victims and the perpertrators of the Mountain Meadow Massacre. The theme of my movie and book has been lost by the critics who bash us as anti-Mormon. My theme was forgiveness. Christians, one of them on your "shame list" backed away from us because they didn't want to "upset" the LDS church because Mitt was running for office. I am not anti-Mormon, I know some very nice people who are Mormon, but they are not Christians by the biblical and dictionary definitions of the word Christian. Perhaps people would understand more if they went to live in Utah as a non-Mormon. Now, I fully expect to be blasted for this because the media representatives in every ward of the LDS church crawl the net looking for anything they construe as anti-LDS. They want to be viewed as Christians. In fact, their founder, Joseph Smith, said that God told him that all the denominations were abominations and to start the only true Christian Church. Gorden Hinckley, prophet and president of the LDS church said in Ensign(the LDS magazine and dotcom)in November 2001, pg.5, "Those who observe us say that we are moving into the mainstream of religion. We are not changing. The world's perception of us is changing. We teach the same doctrine." Would you like to know what that doctrine is? Read my book or the books of many ex-Mormons who are evangelical Christians now. I'm amazed that evangelicals prefer to support someone who has changed his mind as Governor of Massachusetts and now changes his mind again as Presidential candidate. Money and the unbelievable power and organization of the LDS church (who we discovered are incredibly internet savvy) backs Romney. He is not just LDS, he is a stake president. They hope that at least one of Joseph Smith's prophecies come true, that "when the Constitution lies in tatters," a Mormon president will be elected. The history of the LDS church is one supportive of a theocracy. I truly believe, only someone like Huckabee will not tear the Republican party apart. I think Huckabee actually has the best chance of winning. He is a stunningly articulate speaker, but he lacks the backing and financial support of a Republican party seduced by Mitt Romney. And may I say this, by merely saying this and identifying who I am opens me up to vicious attacks. Sandra Tanner, evangelical Christian, great-great-granddaughter of Brigham Young, is not called the "bravest woman in Utah," for no reason. I challenge you to go to ex-Mormon websites, call a Christian church in Utah or talk to a Christian teenager going to public school in a predominantly LDS area in Utah and ask them how they are treated, and then tell the Christians leaders what you learn. It will open your eyes. But remember, God wants us to love everyone. I do not speak this out of hatred, as the LDS have accused me of, I speak this in bewilderment that Christians would not support a candidate who sincerely espouses their values. I'm disheartened because I loved the fact that this country was a Christian nation and believed God blessed us because of it and because we have loved the Jewish people and Israel. In fact, we have embraced every color, every creed, and we are the most generous, the most forgiving, the best nation on earth. But we are losing that which has made us great. Isn't it enough that we have shoved God out of our schools? Now, we, the Christian people, through our leadership, have decided that it is okay to turn our backs on someone unashamed to declare that our God is God, in order to endorse someone who believes there are many gods and in fact, that he will be a god of his own planet when he dies. Mitt Romney is free to believe whatever he wants. But should Christians simply follow the more glamorous candidate? What are the most important Christian values? "Hear O Israel, the Lord is God, the Lord is one," and Jesus "is the way the truth and the light, no man comes before the Father except through Him." Everything else, being pro-life, being a strict constructionist, EVERYTHING falls under those two major truths. As a Christian, if you have a choice, how can you not support a candidate who supports these truths?! I am ashamed to be a Republican who happens to be a Christian if those who profess to be both choose a candidate simply because they think he has more money, more visibility, and is better looking. Samuel turned down all of Jesse's sons because God wanted the least of Jesse's sons to be king. Please tell your leaders, we should be of the world but not in it. Our leaders seem to think with their heads, pro-life and the sanctity of marriage have become their gods. Our Christian values are built on Who God is. Thank you.

What Are Your Children Inheriting?

In these days of volital stock markets, it makes me stop and think. What will I be leaving my children and grandchildren?

My husband and I have worked faithfully to save for our retirement. We have a nice little nest egg that will make our retirement years comfortable for us. Most likely when we leave this earth our children will inherit a nice chunk of change.

Here are the questions. Would it be better to invest a small amount of that money in the campaign of Mike Huckabee to guarantee that our kids will inherit not only money, but a country that is in better shape than it is today? Will we leave behind a country that is secure and prosperous? Or will it be a country that is crippled by socialized medicine and taxed to the breaking point?

Maybe you are already well into your retirement years. What will your children inherit from you? What do you want them to inherit?

Let's take a long hard look at the legacy we will leave behind for our kids. Let's take a long hard look at what we believe in and decide today to stop thinking so much about our own comfort but to consider making a sacrifice so our children and grand children will have the best possible future.

Interesting Breakdown of Poll Numbers

This breakdown of the recent Iowa poll by Rasmussen was done by Tommy Oliver. See here for more details. http://race42008.com/2007/10/17/heres-some-more-on-the-rasmussen-iowa-caucus-poll/

Among Men
Mitt Romney 24%
Fred Thompson 23%
Mike Huckabee 19%
Rudy Giuliani 11%
John McCain 6%

Among Women
Mitt Romney 28%
Rudy Giuliani 16%
Mike Huckabee 16%
Fred Thompson 10%
John McCain 7%
Sam Brownback 4%

Among 18-29 year olds
Fred Thompson 24%
Mitt Romney 22%
Rudy Giuliani 9%
Mike Huckabee 9%
John McCain 9%
Ron Paul 5%

Among 30-39 year olds
Mike Huckabee 23%
Mitt Romney 23%
Fred Thompson 18%
Rudy Giuliani 10%
John McCain 5%
Sam Brownback 4%

Among 40-49 year olds
Fred Thompson 23%
Mike Huckabee 22%
Rudy Giuliani 15%
Mitt Romney 13%
John McCain 7%
Sam Brownback 6%

Among 50-64 year olds
Mitt Romney 28%
Fred Thompson 19%
Mike Huckabee 18%
Rudy Giuliani 14%
John McCain 5%

Among 65+
Mitt Romney 34%
Rudy Giuliani 14%
Fred Thompson 13%
Mike Huckabee 13%
John McCain 7%

I think it is interesting that Mike scores so low in the 65 and older group. You would think he is the type of candidate with "old fashioned" morals and values that this age group would appreciate.

My thoughts: They watch tv and are not on the internet.

The solution: Get Mike on t.v.

While these older folks may trek out to vote in January, they are less likely to trek out to meet the candidates on the street.

Donations are up for Huckabee starting this quarter, but it takes A LOT of money to buy tv ads. Keep up the good work. Tell everyone who will listen. Mike Huckabee needs to be the next President of the United States.
Additional Note: It is also interesting to note the difference between men an women. Women like Giuliani better ( i.e., he will keep us safe??) and dislike Fred Thompson by about 50% compared to men. Don't know what to think about that. Karla

Cool T-Shirts

Get your official "Rockin' With Huck" T-Shirt at the Huckabee Store! http://www.cafepress.com/huckabee4pres08

10,000 T.V. ADS!

MSNBC is reporting tonight that Mitt Romney has paid for and played 10,000 t.v. spots to date. That is amazing!! Not that he had so many ads. It's amazing that Mike Huckabee has won a recent Iowa poll for those voters who have decided for sure whom they are voting for. Just think of the power Huckabee would have if we started supporting him financially and he could do 1/100th the number of t.v. spots??

Let's Make History

This presidential election will be the most exciting election in a long long time. We have a chance to make history. Not by electing the first woman or the first non-white or the person with the most money or the person with party machine behind him or her . But by being the first election in decades that was won by the people. People who have taken back the voting process and made it an honorable way to elect the President of the United States of America.

It is amazing the amount of influence certain people carry. But I don't believe Republicans are going to be led, this time around, like they are following the Pied Piper. I believe that the number of undecided voters represent a surgence of power. The power of the people! People who are going to take the time to explore the candidates and to vote their conscience.

Please take your vote seriously. So many people have told me they haven't even started thinking about the election. It is time to start!! This election could be decided by the middle of February. Let's take back the political process and give it to the people where it belongs.

Where's Fred?

The media has been reporting that Fred Thompson is MIA. He has cancelled several of his scheduled events and basically has not been seen since his debut in the CNBC debate. Exactly how many blunders does this candidate have to make before his followers realize they are following a sinking ship? Could it be that the early reports of Mr. Thompson being a little on the lazy side (or maybe a lot) have been right on?

What's In A Name?

I have been floored by recent revelations in the news that it is believed people will not vote for Mike Huckabee because his last name makes him seem like a "hick". What in the world has this country come to?

There is an underlying message in all of this, I believe. And here it is: People who do not live in a geographically large population are less intelligent than those who do. You can even see it on t.v.

Take Survivor for example. There is a young woman on the show who has made it clear that she feels superior to the other contestants who are not from the Big City. Her biggest complaint? They are so disgustingly polite! How arrogant is that?

This is crazy!!

What kind of name is Giuliani anyway? From my part of the country ( yes, I'm one of those you should take pity on as I live in Central Illinois in the country no less!!) Maybe that is a name easily recognized in New York, but I checked my local telephone directory, there are no Giulianis (there was one Giuliano however).

Are Americans in general so lacking in intelligence that they would vote for a candidate based on a name?? Now name recognition is a different story. There is tons of research to support that notion. But it is a sad day no matter what the size of the population, when we believe someone would be so lacking in intelligence they would vote based on the sound of someone's name.

The truth is, Mike Huckabee relates to the middle class of this country. And although the middle class does not make a lot of noise, it is a very powerful voting block. It is the voting block that recognizes this country's economy is slipping and needs intelligent leadership with fresh ideas for how to get things back on track. It is the voting block that recognizes the value of human life. It is the voting block that believes a return to good manners would be a good thing for this country.

So, you can call me a hick or country bumpkin or whatever name you want. I will be voting for Mike Huckabee. ( one of those disgustingly polite people, who I believe is the most intelligent candidate). Please tell me you will take the time to explore the positions of all of the candidates before making your choice at the polls.

By the way, I earned a Master's Degree at the University of Illinois and still choose to live in a small community. Go figure.

Dr. Dobson, Take a Stand!

Recent news relays Dr. Dobson's decision to not support Fred Thompson for president. See here for more information:

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hmMAuwqXONV6giFylwbgSh-58_fA

This is very good news for America. Dr. Dobson is a very influential man in the evangelical community. He has worked his entire career giving advice to and supporting families. The article states that Dobson will also not support Rudy Giuliani or John McCain.

So.... who does that leave? Of those remaining conservatives running for the presidency who poll above 1% we have Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul.

hmmmm. I wonder what Mr. Dobson will do?

Make your views known by writing to Dobson at the Focus on the Family website. (http://www.focusonthefamily.com/) Be sure to let Dr. Dobson know that Mike Huckabee is a viable candidate. He needs to know that Mike Huckabee is the ONLY candidate who has the courage, intellegence, and integrity to be not only the next President of the United States, but the all-time best President of the United States.

Will Dr. Dobson show us that he has the courage, intellegence and integrity to endorse Mike Huckabee? Only time will tell.

Huckabee in Bettendorf

I saw that the Governor was going to be stumping in Bettendorf Iowa on Thursday night so I thought I'd take the short trip over (about 2 hour drive). As always, I was not disappointed. There were about 100 people there. Wes the organizer from the Des Moines office was hoping for 40-50.

The evening started with an introduction by Iowa Senator David Heartsuch who also added his endorsement of Governor Huckabee. Heartsuch who stated he only raised $3,500 in his own primary said that money is not the only factor in a political race. Having the right message for your constituents is what really matters.

Mike Huckabee addressed the crowd while swatting away the mosquitoes. But most people hardly noticed the bugs. Mike said " I liked the people of Iowa before August 11th. After August 11th I love the people of Iowa!" Later he stated that (paraphrasing here) I have more confidence in the people here eating popcorn, than those out East sipping cocktails. Mike even offered the crowd his own recipe for grilled corn on the cob. He's a cook too!!

The evening ended with a crew from MSNBC interviewing Mike on his reaction to the President's speech.

Well worth the drive. I still wish I could be of more help to the campaign. Most of the time I feel like a new mother without a baby to hold. I don't know what to do that will make a difference in this campaign.

Mike jokingly told the crowd in Bettendorf that it's too bad the Illinois people can't just come to Iowa and set up a temporary residence.

I would if I could!

Thompson Fizzles in His First Week

Many of us have looked for opportunities to support Gov Huckabee in ways in addition to financial giving. Please read this article in the Associated Press titled: Evangelicals hesitant about Thompson By ERIC GORSKI AP Religion Writer.

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/T/THOMPSON_EVANGELICALS?SITE=NCASH&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

The article lays out that many evengelical leaders are less than excited about Fred Thompson now that he has officially entered the race.

We now have another way to help Mr. Huckabee with his campaign. We can contact influential evangelical leaders and express our desire that Mike Huckabee be named as their choice for the Republican nomination. One such group, the Arlington Group is mentioned in the article. As stated in the article, organizations cannot endorse presidential candidates, but individuals can. Other names to contact include: James Dobson, (who has already stated that he will not vote for Rudy), Jack Hayford and many many others. For a partial list of Christian leaders check out :

OnePlace.com athttp://www.oneplace.com/ministries/

I believe this AP article clearly represents the sentiments of not only evangelical leaders, but the general public as well. Please don't let the Republican Party become like lemmings, following after someone with no intelligent thought going into the decision. Take this opportunity to make your voice heard. Mike Huckabee is not going to win the nomination unless WE get the word out about him.

Thompson Trips Over His Own Tongue

Fred Thompson tripped over his own words within just a few days of announcing (finally) his official bid for the Presidency. During an interview on Hannity and Colmes he seemed to contradict himself over the use of one-on -one debates. First asserting that they were appropriate for the General Election then later he seemed to challenge the current GOP runners to whatever style of debate they wanted, one on one or in groups. (see the full transcript here):

http://www.cbn.com/CBNnews/229840.aspx).

I was less concerned with Mr. Thompson's apparent flip flopping as I was with his ability or should I say lack of ability to make a decipherable point. When he talks, it's as if he has a mouth full of mush. Does he think he is going to have negotiations with President Putin during a very sensitive time in our nations' relationships and talk like a blundering idiot? I can just see the interpreter frozen with a deer in the headlights look. Not because he doesn't know how to translate what Mr. Thompson says into Russian, but not knowing how to interpret what Mr. Thompson says into English! I don't mean to be rude, but this is really, really, important!! Many have espoused Fred Thompson's southern charm. I'm sorry. I'm not from the south but you can surely produce better than that!

This GOP campaign year has been exciting to watch. With Fred in the mix it is going to stir things up and make it even more exciting. But keep your eye on Mike Huckabee who has demonstrated that he is extremely articulate. He doesn't talk like he has a mouth full of mush. But instead speaks eloquently with intelligence, often seasoned with a little humor, while providing real policy ideas that will bring America back into balance. Mike Huckabee has also demonstrated that he not only has ideas, but can get things done even when it requires going across the aisle.

Come on Fred, you've had nine months to practice your speeches. Surely you can do better than that!

Grass "ROOTS" Means We Have To Dig A Little Deeper

Have you like me, found it to be a challenge to scrape up enough money to donate to Mike Huckabee's Presidential Campaign? I have some ideas about how we can increase our giving to the campaign without breaking the food budget.

First of all, if you have the means to contribute and haven't yet, now is the time to make that donation. Every person can donate up to $2,300.00. That's $4,600 for a married couple. Just go to http://www.mikehuckabee.com/ and make your donation. It can be done with less than 3 minutes of your time.

Second, even if you can only give $10.00 a week, that is going to help because Mike has proven that he can make that $10.00 do wonders with his excellent fiscal management abilities. And I mean excellent. Your money will not be wasted!! If you are a youth, you can also get in the action.

Third, consider some of these ideas for raising money. Some of which can double as advertising for the campaign.

Have a garage sale

Borrow from your retirement account and pay yourself back ( instead of a bank) w/ interest.

Have a Bake Sale

Kids Have a Car Wash or Babysit

Sell items on EBay ( you know those collectables that are just sitting around gathering dust)

For example, I am selling a quilt on EBay and will donate all proceeds to the campaign. See quilt below.

Folks, we are approaching a crossroads in this campaign. Governor Huckabee and his team have worked miracles with the donations they have received to this date. But we need to get Mike on TV and that takes a lot of money!! Unfortunately, Mr. Huckabee doesn't have an Oprah Winfrey on his side yet, so it is up to us.

There are lots and lots of people talking about Mike Huckabee, but are they digging deep, I mean really deep to help him get into the white house?

It doesn't have to hurt. Pick one or more of the ideas above, or come up with your own! Have fun with it. Do it with some of your Huckabee friends.

Let's continue to get the word out by making our dollars work for us. We know Mike will work wonders with every dollar he gets -for us and for America. He's already demonstrated that.
