John McCain's choice for vp will have tremendous implications for this election cycle. While the vp slot is not usually a critical element, social conservatives are concerned that McCain will defy traditional conservative values and name a pro-choice vp, Mitt Romney who has an inconsistent record on social issues, or a nominee who will make the so-cons yawn. McCain will need every vote to win this election. He would be wise to pick a vp that inspires the base. Might I recommend Mike Huckabee?

THE HUCKABEE EXPERIENCE
Just how does one become a Mike Huckabee supporter? Well it goes something like this. You are sitting in your living room folding clothes or reading a book with 1/2 an ear on the tv. Suddenly you hear a man speak that catches your attention. "Who is that guy?", you might think. Then he says something so profound that you literally stop what you are doing and move to the edge of your seat. Sound familiar? Then you involuntarily cock your head to the side so as not to miss one word of what this man is saying. When he is done talking you say out loud to yourself and anyone else who is in the room, "That man needs to be President".
With that one moment in time you are hooked on making sure this incredible man of great wisdom, humility and integrity becomes President of the United States of America. It doesn't matter that you have never donated to a presidential campaign before. It doesn't matter that you are really kind of shy and would never have voiced your opinion of a political candidate to your friends, or heaven forbid - a total stranger. It doesn't matter that you have never written a letter to someone whom you hope will endorse someone for office. But you find yourself doing all these things and much, much more.
Never, in the last century have we had an opportunity to elect someone to the highest office in our land who would lift us up to be something better than we are. We want to be like Mike - literally. We stop and think about how we treat people and how we talk about people. What would Mike do in this situation? I was raised on TV that encouraged the best behavior and the characters were in reality "to good to be true". Well folks, we have found a Presidential Candidate in Mike Huckabee who is "to good" to be deserving of the decline this Nation has experienced. When President Clinton was President, I made the comment, "God has given us what we deserve". It is my prayer now that God will not give us what we deserve, but instead show His great mercy on us by allowing us to have Mike Huckabee who will lead us back to a Country we can be proud to be a part of.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE CHOICES
Mike Huckabee with his non-polarizing conservative style is set to take on the challenge of another Clinton democratic nominee if that becomes the choice of the leftist party. In a recent Rasmussen poll, Huckabee was within 3 pts. in a head-to-head contest with Sen Hillary Clinton.
Update: Since this post, Mike Huckabee has surpassed Hillary Clinton in a head to head match up.
"Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, who recently rose to the top tier of GOP candidates in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll, has pulled to within three points of the Democratic frontrunner in a general election match-up. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows Senator Hillary Clinton earning 46% of the vote while Huckabee attracts 43%. "
While other Republican candidates scramble for Christian conservative endorsements to shore up their own lack of conservatism, Mike Huckabee continues to stir up the passion of America's right with his no-nonsense, clear, concise policies sprinkled with good humor.
So who will play the part of Capt. James West in the movie "Wild,Wild,West to take on the Clinton machine? Mike Huckabee has already accomplished it successfully four times! For me, it just makes sense to let him do it again. I'm behind him 100% for the salvation of our country.
From the movie:
Loveless Hentchman: [Doing Karate moves] "I learned that from a China man "
Capt. James West: [Kicks up a shovel and hits him in the face] "I just made that up "

Another Must Read from the Washington Post
"Mike Huckabee is the one major Republican candidate who is not equivocal on either abortion or same sex marriage. He opposes both and supports amendments to back up those views. "

How Huckabee Could Rock The 2008 Vote
Washington Post: How Huckabee Could Rock The 2008 Vote
By Charles Mahtesian, Washington Post
November 03, 2007
"Southern political personalities, like sweet corn, travel badly," A.J. Liebling once famously noted. "They lose flavor with every hundred yards away from the patch." But in the case of Mike Huckabee, the opposite might be true.
The farther this Baptist preacher-turned-presidential candidate gets from Little Rock, the more appealing he becomes. From the Manhattan studios of Jon Stewart's "The Daily Show" to the Values Voter Summit in Washington, from the straw poll in Ames, Iowa, to a jam session with a high school jazz band in Concord, N.H., Huckabee has blended his faith and social conservatism into an appealing package -- one that's true to his evangelical roots yet somehow unthreatening to more secular audiences.

Have You Thanked a G.I. Lately?
Here is a thought.
How many of us have friends and family currently serving in the military? How many of us have adequately thanked them for that service?
My idea:
Send a thank you card to those people and include a note stating that we have contributed X amount to the Mike Huckabee campaign in their honor. You can explain why you think Mike is the best candidate for this country. It doesn't matter if they already support Mike or not . ( but it doesn't hurt to get his name out there).
Later,
I have cards to mail.
